RT India to launch TV broadcast this week

(MENAFN) RT India is set to begin its television broadcasts from a modern media studio in Delhi on December 5.

The Moscow-based international news network will air four daily programs in English and aims to strengthen traditional ties between India and Russia, as well as highlight the two nations’ growing influence in a multipolar global landscape. Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit India on December 4 for a two-day summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ahead of the channel’s launch, RT India released a multi-episode series titled ‘Imperial Receipts’ examining British colonialism, featuring Shashi Tharoor, chairman of the Indian Parliament’s Committee on External Affairs.

RT’s English-language international channel is already part of the offerings of 18 major Indian operators, reaching a potential audience of 675 million viewers. The network also has a news-sharing agreement with Doordarshan, India’s public broadcaster managed by Prasar Bharti.

In November, RT India rolled out a nationwide advertising campaign titled ‘A new voice from an old friend’ to introduce the channel. The campaign highlighted the shared perspectives of the India-Russia partnership and was displayed across 65 prime locations in key business, cultural, and diplomatic districts, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

As part of the promotion, RT India also set up a special Indo-Russian display along the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line, covering 37 stations over 47 kilometers from Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Center in Gurugram.
