(MENAFN) A high-level American delegation touched down in Russia's capital Tuesday for critical negotiations aimed at halting the conflict in Ukraine, according to reports from Russian state-controlled media outlets.

The diplomatic mission—led by special envoy Steve Witkoff alongside presidential adviser Jared Kushner—arrived at Vnukovo airport in Moscow, where they received an official greeting from Kirill Dmitriyev, a presidential envoy representing Russia.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the meeting's timeline during a press briefing held earlier Tuesday, stating that Witkoff and Kushner will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin after 5 pm Moscow time (GMT1400), and the session will last "as long as necessary."

The arrival marks a significant diplomatic development as Washington intensifies efforts to broker an end to the ongoing warfare.
