A serious health crisis is sweeping through Kashmir, disguised in everyday treats. It hides in jars labelled“pure honey,” tubs of“village butter,” colourful sweets, and bakery goods.

What looks like a harmless cottage industry is actually a deep and dangerous network of food adulteration.

It takes advantage of families who don't suspect a thing, the trust of elderly patients, and the vulnerability of children.

The threat is a direct attack on people's health. And if Kashmir doesn't act quickly with science, and firm laws, it could be staring at a generational health disaster far bigger than anything it is ready for.

In the Barthana-Parimpora stretch of Srinagar, the crisis is already showing its real size.
