Ganderbal Police Secures Life Imprisonment For Accused In POCSO Case

Ganderbal- District Police Ganderbal on Monday secured life imprisonment for a man convicted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to a statement, the accused, Varinder Thakur, son of Yadav Lal Thakur and a resident of Sariswa, Bihar, was awarded life imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000 by the Court of the Principal Sessions Judge, Ganderbal, under Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
“In addition to the main conviction, the court also sentenced him to one year of imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,000 under Section 342 of the IPC, and two years of imprisonment with a fine of ₹2,000 under Section 506 of the IPC.

Public Prosecutor Shafat Ahmad Bhat handled the prosecution, while Public Prosecutor Jehangir Rafiqi argued the case before the court,” the statement added.
The case was investigated by PSI Rayees Ahmad, whose thorough and professional investigation was instrumental in ensuring justice for the victim.
