Visa-Free Entry Announced For Saudi, Russian Citizens In Both Countries

Saudi Arabia and Russia have signed an agreement mutually exempting citizens from both countries from obtaining entry visas. Russia is the first country in the world with which the Kingdom has signed a visa exemption agreement for ordinary passport holders.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Saudi Arabia said that the move enhances cooperation between the "brotherly and friendly countries". It is set to create opportuinites for tourism, economic and cultural trade and increase communication between the people of the two nations.

Who can get visa-free entry?
  • The new rule applies to citizens of both countries travelling for tourism, business, or to visit family and friends.

  • Citizens are allowed to stay for up to 90 consecutive days, or 90 days in separate periods throughout the year.

When is visa required for citizens?

Visas are still required for citizens of both countries wishing to work, study, perform Hajj or reside in the other country.

Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia announced a 30-day extension of the grace period for visit visa holders to leave the country legally. It applies to holders of all types of visit visas.
