Egypt Unveils 'Sinai 806' Recovery Vehicle And New Rocket Systems At EDEX 2025
Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah announced the new platforms on Monday, emphasising the state's directive to localise advanced military technologies and reduce reliance on foreign imports.
The“Sinai 806” is a tracked recovery and repair vehicle specifically designed to provide technical support for the“Sinai 200” infantry fighting vehicle, which entered service recently.
Salah detailed the vehicle's capabilities, stating it is equipped with a crane capable of lifting 2 tonnes and a towing winch with a 15-ton capacity, which can be doubled using pulley systems to recover stalled or damaged vehicles in combat zones.
Alongside the recovery vehicle, the ministry displayed a new light 4×4 vehicle equipped with anti-aircraft capabilities. This mobile air defence system is designed to provide rapid protection for ground troops against low-flying aerial threats, including drones and helicopters, reflecting a growing focus on versatile, high-mobility units.
The ministry also debuted the“Rada'a 300” (Deterrence 300), a new locally designed rocket launcher system. While specific range and payload details remain classified, the system is part of Egypt's broader effort to modernise its artillery and missile forces. A new advanced artillery system, described by officials as one of the latest of its kind globally, was also showcased at the ministry's pavilion.
“These new products, designed and executed by workers at the ministry's subsidiary companies, reflect the limitless support provided by the political leadership,” Salah said during the unveiling.
The Ministry of Military Production, which operates over 16 factories producing ammunition, heavy weapons, and electronics, stated that the new equipment is ready to meet the operational requirements of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
The fourth edition of the Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) runs from Dec. 1-4 in Cairo, hosting over 400 exhibitors.
