Kremlin Confirms Imminent Meeting Between Putin, Trump Envoy

(MENAFN) The Kremlin confirmed Monday that a closely anticipated encounter between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff will occur in Moscow on Tuesday afternoon.

"Yes, indeed, a meeting with Witkoff is planned for tomorrow," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a press briefing, adding the talks would take place in the afternoon.

Peskov indicated that visual documentation from the Russian capital meeting will be released publicly, though he declined to confirm or rule out whether officials will issue a post-negotiation statement.

The spokesman revealed that Putin will conduct multiple closed-door sessions today as preparatory groundwork for tomorrow's diplomatic engagement, but offered no additional specifics.

Peskov reiterated Moscow's allegations against Ukraine concerning a strike on Caspian Pipeline Consortium facilities in the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk, while acknowledging the Kremlin possesses no intelligence on whether investigators are examining Saturday's incident.

He subsequently noted that Putin's agenda is presently saturated, and that a potential meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrives in Russia Monday for a two-day diplomatic visit, is "not yet" confirmed.

Peskov further stated the Kremlin cannot disclose details surrounding ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's presence in Russia.
