KABUL (Pajhwok): A base of Pakistani forces came under attack from militants in Chagai district of Balochistan province, a media report said on Monday.

The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Some reports indicate that four armed individuals attacked the Frontier Corps (FC) base on Sunday night. One of them reportedly detonated explosives at the headquarters main gate and fighting continued for nearly two hours afterward.

A police officer in Chagai, Muhammad Shareef, told the BBC that the attack took place at around 8:30pm.

An official in Nokundi, where the attack occurred, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that gunfire continued for about one and a half to two hours after the blast.

According to him, first a loud explosion was heard at the gate of the base, followed by heavy gunfire. After the initial blast, around seven to eight smaller explosions were heard, and the firing stopped at about 10:30pm.

No information has yet been provided regarding casualties in the attack.
