Putin to visit New Delhi for summit with Modi on December 4-5
(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit New Delhi on December 4-5 for a summit with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as confirmed by the Kremlin. This will mark Putin’s tenth trip to India and his first visit since 2021. During the summit, the leaders are expected to cover a broad range of bilateral and international topics, including the Ukraine conflict, India’s defense purchases from Russia, energy cooperation, and trade matters.
“This visit is of great importance, providing an opportunity to comprehensively discuss the extensive agenda of Russian-Indian relations of a special privileged strategic partnership in political, trade-economic, scientific-technological, and cultural-humanitarian fields, as well as to consider current international and regional issues,” the Kremlin stated.
Modi previously visited Russia twice in 2024—first in June for a bilateral summit in Moscow and later in October for a BRICS meeting in Kazan. The two leaders most recently met in Tianjin during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in September, where they shared a private hour-long conversation in Putin’s presidential limousine before engaging in delegation-level discussions. Modi described the encounter as “always insightful.”
