IDF demolishes homes in Gaza, breaking truce yet again
(MENAFN) On Saturday evening, the Israeli army carried out demolition operations targeting residential areas east of Gaza City, according to reports. Several buildings in the Shejaiya neighborhood were detonated, producing loud explosions that echoed across large parts of the city, eyewitnesses said.
Thick columns of smoke were observed rising from the demolition sites, and shrapnel from the blasts reportedly fell across multiple nearby neighborhoods due to the intensity of the explosions.
In recent days, Israeli forces have stepped up ground, naval, and aerial bombardments in Gaza areas under their control. Eyewitnesses reported strikes in eastern Gaza City, Beit Lahiya in the north, the eastern sections of Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, Rafah, and the towns of Al-Qarara and Bani Suhaila east of Khan Younis in the south.
Reports indicate that Israel continues to breach the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, committing roughly 497 violations and killing more than 342 Palestinians since October 10.
Since October 2023, the conflict has claimed nearly 70,000 lives in Gaza—mostly women and children—and left over 170,900 injured, with extensive destruction across the enclave.
