Suspect of Washington National Guard shooting faces first degree murder charges

(MENAFN) US prosecutors are upgrading charges against the suspect accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, DC, after one of the victims died, according to media reports Friday.

DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro told a news agency that the case now includes first-degree murder, with additional charges expected.

The attack took place around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday near the Farragut West Metro station, where Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, were allegedly ambushed.

President Donald Trump confirmed Beckstrom’s death Thursday, saying she was “no longer with us.” He added that Wolfe remains in critical condition and is “fighting for his life.”
