Putin Attempts to Play Traditional Kyrgyz Instrument

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin experimented with a traditional stringed instrument during his visit to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on Wednesday.

While touring a pavilion designed in the style of a nomadic yurt on the grounds of the Kyrgyz presidential residence, Putin picked up a komuz.

A musician explained to Putin in a video, “It has three strings, just like a balalaika.” To which Putin responded, “Yes, I understand.”

As the Russian leader tried to play the instrument, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko could be heard commenting that the komuz was out of tune.

During his trip, Putin also held talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. On Thursday, he is scheduled to participate in a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a regional security alliance made up of former Soviet Union nations.
