(MENAFN) According to reports, demonstrators were detained outside London’s High Court on Wednesday during a rally supporting the banned activist group, Palestine Action.

Around 150 people attended the protest organized by Defend Our Juries in solidarity with Palestine Action, which was outlawed in July under the UK’s Terrorism Act. Since the ban, hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists have been arrested for publicly showing support or carrying signs backing the group.

Palestine Action was prohibited under the UK’s 2000 Terrorism Act after members damaged two aircraft at Royal Air Force Brize Norton. The arrests coincided with a new wave of demonstrations supporting the group, as a judicial review takes place from November 25 to 27 that could potentially overturn the designation of the group as a terrorist organization.

Footage from the protest shows participants seated outside the Royal Courts of Justice with signs reading: "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action." Defend Our Juries noted on social media platform X that arrests were "so slow so far" as of 1500GMT, adding that after two hours, "only a handful of around 150 peaceful sign-holders" had been detained.

As stated by reports, since October 2023, Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in nearly 70,000 deaths, mainly among women and children, injured over 170,800 people, and left the territory in ruins. The violence paused following a ceasefire agreement on October 10.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its actions in the region.
