Israel army forces conduct cross-border attack in Syria

(MENAFN) According to reports, Israeli military forces carried out a cross-border operation in the Quneitra countryside of southern Syria on Wednesday, marking another breach of Syrian sovereignty.

A patrol consisting of three vehicles entered an area between the villages of al-Ajraf and Umm Batna in northern Quneitra. The troops set up a temporary military checkpoint before withdrawing, as stated by reports.

No immediate statements came from Israeli or Syrian authorities regarding the raid.

Local residents have expressed concern over a recent surge in Israeli incursions, citing encroachments into farmland, destruction of hundreds of acres of forest, arrests, and the establishment of multiple military checkpoints.

As reported, the Israeli army has carried out 46 raids in southern Syria so far in November.

Government figures indicate that since December 2024, Israeli forces have conducted more than 1,000 airstrikes across Syria and over 400 cross-border operations in the southern provinces.

Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its presence in the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, an action that violates the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria.
