Erdogan, South Korean President Discuss Expanding Cooperation
(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Monday that his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in Ankara concentrated on measures to enhance collaboration in the defense industry between the two nations.
Erdogan remarked during a joint news briefing with Lee, "Our discussions with the relevant institutions on the establishment of a clean power plant are also ongoing."
He emphasized the significance of earlier agreements, saying, “I see the memorandum of understanding signed earlier between the Korea Electric Power Corporation and the Turkish Nuclear Energy Corporation as an important step. We are also in agreement with South Korea regarding counterterrorism.”
The Turkish leader highlighted that the two presidents exchanged views on cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, tourism, energy, defense, technology, and investments.
They additionally committed to maintaining collaboration within international frameworks such as the UN, G20, and the cross-regional consultative platform MIKTA.
Erdogan pointed out the considerable potential in fields like artificial intelligence, semiconductors, battery technologies, and renewable energy, while noting new accords on wind energy and partnerships in blood plasma research.
He also expressed support for Hyundai’s new electric vehicle project in Izmit and reaffirmed Türkiye’s encouragement of Korean businesses investing in the country.
