Sudan’s RSF Declares Unilateral Truce

(MENAFN) Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) revealed on Monday that it is instituting a one-sided, three-month humanitarian pause with the Sudanese army.

The group stated that this initiative is intended to align with global attempts to curb bloodshed and widen avenues for relief organizations to operate.

In a recorded address, RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo announced that his forces, together with allied factions, have consented to “an immediate humanitarian ceasefire that includes a halt to all hostile actions for three months.”

He emphasized that this commitment is designed to enhance the flow of humanitarian aid by guaranteeing the safe passage of assistance personnel, ensuring unrestricted entry to all impacted zones, safeguarding sites and storage facilities belonging to domestic and foreign groups, and enabling medical and emergency teams to carry out their duties without barriers.

Dagalo also revealed that the RSF has endorsed the establishment of an on-the-ground monitoring structure to supervise the ceasefire, overseen by the Quad and the African Union.

Additional committees will be created to make certain that humanitarian support is delivered securely to civilians.

He noted that the ceasefire is intended to act as “the first step toward ending hostilities and reaching a comprehensive political solution” to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

The RSF chief voiced optimism that a blend of international backing and broad Sudanese involvement could open the door to a political process capable of concluding the war and directing the nation toward a durable transition.

Dagalo stressed that any forthcoming political path must exclude “the terrorist Islamic Movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, the National Congress Party and their affiliates (the army and allied groups),” whom he blamed for “three decades of suffering” in Sudan.
