Northwest Pakistan Militia Targeted in Deadly Attack

(MENAFN) At least seven people were killed and two others injured in an armed attack on a local “peace militia” office in the outskirts of Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, late Thursday night, police reported on Friday.

No group has claimed responsibility for the assault, but security forces suspect the Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a coalition of militant groups that has been active in Bannu and nearby areas, including North Waziristan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and instructed authorities to mobilize all available resources to apprehend those responsible.
