Six Dead, Nearly Twenty Wounded in Vietnam Landslide


(MENAFN) A landslide triggered by torrential rainfall engulfed a passenger bus beneath rocks and debris Sunday night, claiming six lives and leaving 19 injured in Khanh Hoa province, central Vietnam, a local online newspaper reported.

The bus, transporting 32 people, including two drivers and one assistant, was struck by a landslide while passing through a landslide-prone section of the Khanh Le Pass, burying and severely damaging its front.

Numerous passengers became trapped inside.

Authorities reached the vehicle after midnight amid persistent heavy rainfall.

Four of the deceased have been recovered, while two remain trapped under the soil as rescue efforts continue.

Nineteen injured passengers were transported to a local hospital.
