Eric Adams Highlights Connection with Israeli Jews

(MENAFN) New York’s departing mayor, Eric Adams, stated during his trip to Israel that he “served” Israeli Jews in his capacity as mayor of the U.S. metropolis.

“I wanted to come back here to Israel and let you know that I served you as the mayor,” Adams remarked on Sunday while in the occupied East Jerusalem.

Adams left New York on Saturday for what his office described as “a multi-day trip” to Israel, during which he planned to meet with government leaders and tour religious landmarks.

“But I want to continue to have the title that's more important to me than anything: I’m your brother,” he added.

Adams is set to hand over the mayoral role to his successor, mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, on January 1, 2026.

Having been elected on November 4, Mamdani, 34, will become the first Muslim and South Asian to hold the mayoralty of the country’s largest city.
