US approves potential military equipment sale to Iraq
(MENAFN) The US State Department has approved a possible sale of the Country Wide Repeater System and associated equipment to Iraq, valued at an estimated $100 million, according to reports.
“The proposed sale will improve Iraq’s critical command-and-control capabilities, bolstering its defense against regional threats. This strengthens Iraq's ability to protect its borders, energy infrastructure and residents, while advancing U.S. security interests,” the Defense Security Cooperation Agency stated.
The main contractor for the project will be L3Harris Corporation, based in New York. Congress has been notified of the potential sale following the agency’s certification.
