King Abdullah holds talks with Vietnamese textile firms

(MENAFN) His Majesty King Abdullah met in Hanoi on Thursday with representatives of major Vietnamese textile companies, alongside members of Jordan’s textile sector, to discuss investment and partnership opportunities.

The roundtable, organized in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), aimed to explore potential joint industrial ventures in the textile sector between private enterprises from both countries, according to a Royal Court statement.

King Abdullah emphasized Jordan’s commitment to deepening economic and trade ties with Vietnam, highlighting the value of Vietnam’s experience in attracting investment and developing local industries, particularly in textiles. He also pointed to Jordan’s investment advantages, including special industrial zones for garments and textiles, which could help Vietnamese companies access new markets.

IFC Division Director for the Middle East, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, Khawaja Aftab, stressed the role of manufacturing in job creation and noted, “Today’s Vietnam–Jordan textile industry roundtable builds on our ongoing advisory support to strengthen the textile sector, expand job opportunities for Jordanians, attract new investments, and boost trade in line with the Kingdom’s Economic Modernisation Vision.”

Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association Chairman Vu Duc Giang expressed interest in visiting Jordan to explore opportunities for diversifying markets, products, and commercial brands, as well as pursuing joint investments aligned with the strategic trade goals of both countries.
Official figures indicate that Jordan’s textile exports reached around $2.4 billion in 2024, with most shipments destined for the United States.

The roundtable was attended by Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah, and Jordan’s non-resident Ambassador to Vietnam, Saed Radaideh.
