(MENAFN) Turkish defense firm Baykar is playing an increasingly significant role in enhancing security and stability in Africa through its advanced, nationally produced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Baykar recently took part in the Bamako Expo Fair (BAMEX’25) in Mali’s capital, where, for the first time, all participating booths were from Turkish companies. The company showcased scale models of its flagship UAVs, including the Bayraktar TB2, Akıncı, TB3, and Kızılelma, presenting their capabilities to visiting international delegations.

The Bayraktar TB2 is especially popular in Africa due to its intelligence, surveillance, and precision strike capabilities, making it a preferred choice for countries seeking to counter threats to national security. African nations such as Mali, Morocco, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Libya, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Djibouti, Somalia, Rwanda, and Kenya have acquired Baykar’s domestically produced armed UAVs.

In addition to UAVs, Baykar exports a variety of payloads produced within Türkiye’s defense industry. Since starting UAV research and development in 2003, the company has generated 83% of its revenue from exports, placing it among the top 10 exporters across all sectors and establishing it as a global leader in armed UAV exports.

Today, Baykar has signed export agreements with 37 countries, and over 90% of its recent contracts are for international deliveries, highlighting Türkiye’s growing influence in the global defense and aerospace market.
