Israel launches fourth incursion into Syria’s Quneitra countryside
(MENAFN) The Israeli army carried out another incursion into Syria’s Quneitra countryside on Wednesday, marking its fourth operation in just two days and further violating Syrian sovereignty.
According to reports, Israeli forces advanced into the village of Rasm al-Qita, establishing a military checkpoint that restricted residents’ movement. Another checkpoint was reportedly set up on the road connecting Abu Ghara village and Suwaisa town. There was no immediate comment from either the Israeli army or Syrian authorities regarding the incidents.
On Tuesday, Israeli forces conducted three additional incursions, setting up a checkpoint between Umm Batinah and Jaba villages and searching local residents.
Israeli operations in Quneitra have intensified in recent months, with locals reporting the seizure of farmland, destruction of hundreds of acres of forests, arrests, and the establishment of multiple military checkpoints.
The Israeli army has frequently crossed into Syrian territory, carrying out airstrikes that killed civilians and destroyed Syrian military positions, vehicles, weapons, and ammunition. Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa previously stated that since the ouster of the Assad regime last December, Israeli forces have conducted over 1,000 airstrikes and more than 400 ground incursions.
