Israeli Forces Escalate Operations in Syria’s Quneitra

(MENAFN) The Israeli military launched another operation in Syria's Quneitra countryside following three raids on Tuesday, further breaching the nation's sovereignty.

According to a state-operated broadcaster, Israeli troops entered the village of Rasm al-Qita and established a military checkpoint, restricting the movement of local residents.

A Syrian news outlet also reported that the Israeli army set up an additional checkpoint along the road connecting Abu Ghara village with Suwaisa town.

There were no immediate responses from either the Israeli military or Syrian officials regarding these reports.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army conducted three separate operations in the region, erecting a military checkpoint between the villages of Umm Batinah and Jaba, while also inspecting locals passing through the area.

Incursions by Israeli forces in Quneitra have intensified in recent times, with residents voicing concerns over the military's intrusion into farmland, the destruction of hundreds of acres of forest, arrests of locals, and the construction of checkpoints.

The Israeli army has frequently crossed into Syrian territory, carrying out airstrikes that have resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of military facilities, vehicles, weapons, and ammunition belonging to the Syrian army.

Earlier, Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa stated that since the removal of the Assad regime last December, Israeli forces have conducted more than 1,000 airstrikes and over 400 ground incursions.
