Guterres denounces recent bombings in Pakistan, India
(MENAFN) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep sorrow over recent deadly attacks in Pakistan and India, a spokesperson said Tuesday.
Guterres is “deeply saddened” by the suicide bombing in Islamabad, extending condolences to the victims’ families and wishing a full recovery to those injured, Farhan Haq told reporters. He added, “The secretary general condemns acts of violence and terrorism in the strongest terms. He reiterates that all perpetrators of terrorism must be held accountable, and he calls for a full investigation.”
According to Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, at least 12 people were killed and 27 injured in Tuesday’s suicide attack outside a court complex in Islamabad.
Regarding Monday’s car bombing in New Delhi, India, which also left 12 dead and numerous injured, Haq said the UN conveys condolences to the Indian government and stressed that this incident “also needs to be fully investigated.”
