Turkish C-130 Military Cargo Plane Goes Down in Georgia
(MENAFN) A Turkish C-130 military cargo plane traveling from Azerbaijan has crashed in Georgia, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed Tuesday.
“We are deeply saddened to learn that one of our C-130 military aircraft, en route from Azerbaijan to our country, has crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border,” Erdogan said during an event in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
He added, “Our search and rescue operations are continuing in coordination with national authorities. May God have mercy on our martyrs.”
The Defense Ministry posted on social media platform X, “Search and rescue operations have begun in coordination with Georgian authorities.”
At this time, authorities have not released details on the number of personnel aboard the aircraft or potential casualties.
