Turkey participates in UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh


(MENAFN) Türkiye was represented at the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, by Nadir Alpaslan, the country’s deputy minister of culture and tourism.

Held over Sunday and Monday under the theme “AI-Powered Tourism: Redefining the Future,” the assembly concentrated on digital transformation, sustainability, and promoting inclusive growth within the tourism sector.

Reports indicate that delegates from more than 160 countries attended to discuss strategic initiatives shaping global tourism for the next 50 years. During the event, participants adopted a declaration establishing the first global framework for the ethical, fair, and sustainable use of artificial intelligence in tourism.

On the sidelines of the assembly, Alpaslan conducted bilateral meetings with tourism officials from Angola, Albania, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Niger, exploring opportunities for cooperation, joint initiatives, and sustainable tourism policies.
