Charli Sargent
- Professor, Professorial Research Fellow and Research Cluster Co-Lead - Sleep and Biological Rhythms, CQUniversity Australia
I am a Professor at the Appleton Institute for Behavioural Science, CQUniversity and I co-lead the Sleep and Biological Rhythms Research Group. Since completing my PhD in 2006, I have been involved in three major areas of research (i) field-based studies examining factors that affect sleep and recovery in high performance athletes, (ii) laboratory-studies examining the relative impacts of sleep, wake and body clock on human health and performance, and (iii) validation studies examining the ability of wearable devices to monitor sleep.
My program of research is currently funded by the Australian Research Council and the National Health and Medical Research Council. In addition to my research, I provide evidence-based advice to national/international sporting teams and organisations regarding the impact of transmeridian travel, competition, and training schedules on the sleep and fatigue of high performance athletes. I have also developed specific intervention programs aimed at improving sleep quantity and quality in high performance athletes.
