ABM strengthens regional trade, maritime connectivity

(MENAFN) The Arab Bridge Maritime Company (ABM) continues to play a vital role in regional economic integration and Red Sea shipping, Transport Minister Nidal Qatamin said on Sunday.

Addressing the company’s 86th General Assembly in Cairo, which included Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Lt. Gen.

Kamel Wazir and Iraqi representative Hazem Hafadhi, Qatamin highlighted ABM’s operational and investment growth over recent years.

The minister emphasized that the company’s progress has reinforced Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq as central hubs in the Arab maritime transport system. Qatamin noted that ABM’s expansion in port infrastructure, fleet modernization, and diversified services demonstrates its evolution from a standard operating company into a strategic Arab investment platform. “These projects are enhancing service quality and consolidating the company’s position as a major gateway for regional trade,” he added.

Wazir praised ABM’s achievements, calling it “a practical example of what Arab partnerships can accomplish in developing infrastructure and logistics,” and noted that its upcoming strategic projects aim to foster closer cooperation between Egyptian, Jordanian, and Iraqi ports while creating an integrated Arab maritime network that supports both regional and global trade.

Hafadhi described ABM as “a true Arab success story,” reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to strengthening its role in the Arab maritime transport network and backing future projects connecting Iraqi ports with those along the Red Sea.

Presenting ABM’s 2026 plan, Director General Adnan Abadleh said the company seeks to expand operations by linking Red Sea ports through a unified transport and tourism network.

Abadleh reported that during the first nine months of 2025, ABM transported more than 59,000 trucks, 256,000 passengers, and 96,000 tourists, achieving a 10 percent profit increase compared with the same period in 2024. He said these results reflect ABM’s sustainable growth strategy and ongoing investment in skilled personnel.
