In Kherson Region, Russians Try To Approach Ukrainian Positions Mainly From Oleshky Marines

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Colonel Oleksandr Zavtonov, spokesperson for the 30th Marine Corps of the Ukrainian Navy, said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

"As for the situation in our sector of defense, the enemy mainly tries to approach our positions from the occupied Oleshky area. Usually, they operate in small groups of two or three. Our reconnaissance assets detect these groups in time and strike them as they approach our positions," Zavtonov said.

According to him, Russian troops are also attempting landings in the island zone. Sometimes they manage to do so, after which they hide there waiting for rotation, abandoned by their commanders. Most of them are killed, and only a few are lucky enough to surrender to Ukrainian forces.

The colonel said that over the past day, units of the 30th Marine Corps successfully repelled an assault attempt near the Antonivskyi Bridge on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

At the same time, Russian troops made four more attempts to advance toward Ukrainian positions but were detected in time and forced to retreat after suffering losses under Ukrainian fire.

According to Ukrainian forces, in the 30th Marine Corps' defense zone, the enemy lost 21 troops killed and wounded, as well as 15 pieces of weapons and military equipment in the past day.

The Russians continue to use a large number of drones – 343 FPV attack drones were launched over the past day alone, of which 324 were jammed by Ukrainian electronic warfare units.

Zavtonov added that the enemy also continues shelling civilian infrastructure: 15 artillery strikes on six settlements in the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions were recorded over the past day.

According to the Marines, this is further evidence that the enemy continues its terrorist tactics of intimidating civilians, with peaceful residents suffering the most from the occupiers' attacks.

Thanks to the coordinated work of the 30th Marine Corps units, Ukrainian forces continue to control enemy movement and logistics routes, preventing the enemy from operating freely along the left-bank coastal zone of the Dnipro.

"We continue to focus on striking the logistics of Russian forces, their personnel, and fire assets," the spokesperson said.

In the autumn of 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated the right-bank part of the Kherson region, including the city of Kherson. The part of the region on the left bank of the Dnipro remains temporarily occupied by Russian forces.
