Uzbek President, US Lawmakers hold talks to boost trade, cooperation

(MENAFN) Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with US Senator Steve Daines, co-chair of the Senate Central Asia Caucus, along with several members of the US House of Representatives, to discuss ways to enhance trade, investment, and regional collaboration between the two nations, according to the Uzbek presidential press service.

The talks, held during Mirziyoyev’s working visit to Washington, centered on advancing the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across various sectors.

The president commended the growing interparliamentary relations, particularly the work of the Senate’s Central Asia Caucus, and pointed to record-breaking trade and investment achievements in recent months. “Agreements and contracts have been concluded for unprecedented amounts, and new economic documents are expected to be signed during this visit,” the statement said, emphasizing Mirziyoyev’s call for continued congressional support to ensure their implementation.

During his meetings with Representatives Bill Huizenga, Carol Miller, and Sydney Kamlager-Dove, discussions focused on strengthening parliamentary exchanges and promoting tangible collaboration in trade, investment, and cultural initiatives.

The Uzbek delegation also highlighted the “fruitful activity” of the Congressional Uzbekistan Caucus, which organizes annual Uzbekistan Days in the House of Representatives to bolster bilateral ties.

Both sides agreed to facilitate a future congressional visit to Uzbekistan and organize reciprocal business delegations to deepen economic and regional engagement.
