Fire at Nursing Home in Bosnia Leaves Over Ten Dead

(MENAFN) A devastating fire engulfed a nursing home on Tuesday evening in northeastern Bosnia-Herzegovina, claiming the lives of 11 residents, local media reported Wednesday.

The blaze erupted on the seventh floor of a retirement facility in the city of Tuzla, where it quickly spread, authorities said. "Firefighters managed to contain the fire after several hours of intervention," a public broadcaster reported.

In addition to the fatalities, several people—including police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel—sustained injuries while responding to the emergency, according to the broadcaster.

Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, with authorities urging caution and highlighting the need for safety reviews at elderly care facilities.

The incident marks one of the deadliest nursing home fires in the country in recent years, prompting concerns over fire safety standards in residential care centers.
