Emery Petchauer

Emery Petchauer is a scholar, writer, educator, and sound designer. His writing on testing, education, and culture have appeared in Los Angeles Review of Books, The Detroit News, Education Week, Salon, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, and other national outlets. His four scholarly books have been reviewed in Harvard Educational Review, Inside Higher Ed, Scratched Vinyl, and the New York, Philadelphia, and Boston Metro Paper. Emery's research on how teaching exams restrict the racial diversity of the teaching profession won the Innovations in Research on Equity and Social Justice in Teacher Education Award from the American Educational Research Association. He is a faculty member in the department of arts and humanities at Teachers College, Columbia University.
