Blast in Iraq’s Baghdad Kills PMF Member, Injures Two Others

(MENAFN) A member of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) was killed and two others injured on Tuesday after an explosion rocked the southern Baghdad suburb of Jurf al-Nadaf.

The PMF's Explosives Directorate said in a statement that the blast occurred while its personnel were performing a "technical duty" in the area.

According to the statement, the explosion was triggered by explosive materials left behind by the Islamic State (IS) group, stored within one of the directorate's own headquarters.

The statement confirmed that "the incident has been brought under control and necessary measures have been taken." It added that teams are continuing their work to secure and clear the site.
