Dhaka: Turkish Airlines resumed direct flights on Monday (Nov. 4) between Istanbul and the northern Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah, restoring a key route that had been suspended since April 2023.

The restart expands the carrier's network in Iraq to six destinations - Baghdad, Basra, Erbil, Kirkuk, Najaf and Sulaymaniyah - the airline said in a statement.

Flights will operate four times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, with plans to increase to daily services under the 2026 summer schedule beginning March 27, 2026.

“We are glad to relaunch our Sulaymaniyah flights, connecting this destination - which boasts rich cultural and natural heritage - to the world with the comfort and hospitality of Turkish Airlines,” said Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee.

“With this route, we will not only strengthen our presence in the region but also contribute to the trade and cultural ties between Türkiye and Iraq,” he added.

The move underscores Turkish Airlines' position as the carrier flying to the most countries worldwide and aims to boost regional connectivity and growing demand for travel and trade between Türkiye and Iraq.
