The US Secretary Of State And The Chinese Ambassador Congratulate Panama -
On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Panama on their 122nd anniversary of independence. Under the leadership of Presidents Trump and Mulino, our two nations are paving the way to a more secure and prosperous future. Panama is a committed partner of the United States and a regional leader in maintaining security, combating drug trafficking, and managing illegal migration, all of which are vital to the stability of the region,” Rubio said in a statement.
The diplomat also highlighted the importance of the Panama Canal in bilateral cooperation.
“Together, our nations share the burden of safeguarding the security of the Panama Canal, a strategic gateway for trade that influences the lives of millions of people every day. Our long-standing partnership reflects the close ties that bind our nations as we continue to work together to resist those malign influences that threaten our shared values and our commitment to freedom.” he noted.
For her part, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Panama, Xu Xueyuan, also joined the patriotic celebrations through a video with some members of the diplomatic team, who wore traditional Panamanian attire in honor of the national culture.
“For China, it is an honor to accompany Panama on this path of development, friendship, and mutual cooperation. These festivities highlight the pride, identity, and spirit of unity of the Panamanian people, also for their independence, their history, and their vision for the future. Since the establishment of our diplomatic relations, the bond between China and Panama has grown strong and confident. Today, both countries enjoy a solid relationship based on mutual respect,” the embassy video states.
The message concluded with the ambassador wearing the Panamanian pollera, who affirmed:“On behalf of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Panama, we extend our congratulations to the Panamanian people on the occasion of their national holidays. Happy Independence Day, Panama!”
