ICC Registrar Visits Poland, Ukraine To Strengthen Cooperation

In Poland, the Registrar was received by Waldemar Zurek, Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General of the Republic of Poland. The meeting provided an opportunity to express gratitude for Poland's steadfast political and practical support to the ICC. Discussions focused on the importance of maintaining strong cooperation with the Court, upholding the rule of law, and safeguarding judicial independence in the face of external pressures.



In Ukraine, the Registrar's mission focused primarily on ensuring the sustainability and operational continuity of the ICC's work, including the activities of the Court's Country Office in Kyiv.

Zavala Giler met with Oleksandr Karasevych, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine; Liudmyla Suhak, Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration; and Oleksii Khomenko, First Deputy Prosecutor General.

The discussions reaffirmed the Court's commitment to its ongoing work in the situation in Ukraine and highlighted the importance of maintaining effective cooperation and robust institutional support for ICC operations.

The Registrar also met with Rolf Holmboe, Head of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) to Ukraine, to exchange views on shared priorities and the continued support provided by the European Union to the ICC's mandate.

During his stay in Kyiv, the Registrar visited the ICC Country Office and met with its staff, commending their professionalism, dedication, and resilience in carrying out essential tasks under demanding circumstances. He expressed deep appreciation for their contribution to advancing the Court's work despite the complex security and operational environment.
