Russian PM visits China to attend inter-governmental meeting
(MENAFN) Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in China on Monday for a two-day official visit focused on strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
According to reports, Mishustin was received by senior officials, including the ambassadors of both countries, upon his arrival. He is set to take part in the 30th regular meeting of the Russian and Chinese heads of government in Hangzhou, alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The previous session between the two prime ministers was held in Moscow in August 2024. A day earlier, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko chaired the 29th session of the bilateral committee in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
Mishustin’s visit will also include talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, where discussions are expected to focus on reinforcing the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The agenda reportedly prioritizes expanding collaboration across trade, economic development, culture, and humanitarian initiatives, as well as advancing joint projects in energy, agriculture, industry, and education.
During President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Beijing in May 2024, both nations signed a declaration to further solidify their strategic partnership, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Bilateral trade has since reached a record $240 billion.
