Türkiye’s Inflation Eases to 32.87 Percent in October
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s annual inflation eased slightly to 32.87 percent in October, down from 33.29 percent in September, according to official figures released Monday.
The Turkish Statistical Institute reported the steepest price surges occurred in housing (50.96 percent), food and non-alcoholic beverages (34.87 percent), and transportation (27.33 percent).
On Sunday, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz emphasized that controlling inflation remains the government’s top economic priority.
"We are reducing inflation gradually. It dropped to 44 percent in 2024, and we expect it to fall to around 30 percent this year," he told local media, adding that the medium-term goal is to reduce inflation to below 20 percent by 2026, and to reach single-digit by 2027.
He also highlighted uneven progress across sectors, noting that while price growth for essential goods has begun to slow, services—particularly rents and education—are trailing behind.
