Avalanche in Italy’s Ortles Region Takes Five Lives
(MENAFN) Five individuals lost their lives after an avalanche swept through the Ortles area in Italy’s northern province of Alto Adige, one of the loftiest and most secluded sections of the mountain range, on Saturday afternoon, officials reported on Sunday.
The deadly snow slide occurred while a group of German skiers was navigating the slopes, initially resulting in three fatalities.
Rescue and recovery efforts resumed on Sunday morning, leading to the discovery of two additional victims, bringing the overall death toll to five.
