Israeli Military Reports Official Found Safe After Disappearance

(MENAFN) Israeli authorities announced on Sunday that outgoing Military Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was discovered alive just hours after she had been reported missing.

According to an Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, police confirmed that Tomer-Yerushalmi was in good condition.

Tomer-Yerushalmi was removed from her post on Saturday following the leak of a video depicting the torture of Palestinian detainees at the infamous Sde Teiman Prison in southern Israel.

Channel 12 reported that she had been unaccounted for since the morning, while KAN mentioned that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir directed military units to exhaust all efforts in locating her.

The broadcaster also noted that she had left a suicide note at her residence, although no additional information was provided.

The leaked video triggered intense outrage both within Israel and internationally. Tomer-Yerushalmi stated she assumed “responsibility for publishing media materials to counter false propaganda by Israeli army officials.”

Human rights groups from both Israel and Palestine report that more than 10,000 Palestinians, including women and children, are currently held in Israeli prisons where they endure torture, deprivation, and lack of medical care—conditions that have led to the deaths of several detainees.
