Trump says he doesn’t plan on running for elections again

(MENAFN) During a recent interview broadcast on CBS News’ 60 Minutes, US President Donald Trump stated that he has no intention of pursuing a third term in the 2028 election.

"I don't even think about it. I will tell you, a lotta people want me to run," he responded when asked by the interviewer whether a third campaign was on his mind.

When asked about potential candidates such as Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump expressed positive views about both individuals. "I like so many people. We have an unbelievable bench. We could run two people together. We have a great bench. So I don't want to start talking about elections. It's too early," he added.

As noted in reports, the 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution restricts any president to two terms in office, effectively preventing a third-term candidacy.
