UK Set to Remove Andrew’s Final Military Rank

(MENAFN) The United Kingdom is preparing to remove the last honorary military rank held by Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, following instructions from King Charles, Defense Secretary John Healey confirmed on Sunday.

Speaking to media, Healey said the king – Andrew’s elder brother – “indicated that's what he wishes.”

Andrew, who was stripped of his princely title last Thursday due to his ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has continued to hold the rank of vice admiral in the Royal Navy after relinquishing his other military roles in 2022.

Healey emphasized: “This is a move that's right, it's a move the king has indicated we should take and we're working on that at the moment.”

During a 22-year career in the Royal Navy, Andrew served as a helicopter pilot in the 1982 Falklands War at the age of 22.

His latest loss of titles and privileges comes after months of scrutiny over his association with Epstein, including allegations that Andrew himself committed rape, which he has consistently denied.
