Syrian Leader Anticipates First Visit to White House

(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa is anticipated to hold discussions with US President Donald Trump at the White House, according to US Special Envoy Tom Barrack, who confirmed the news to a media outlet on Saturday.

The meeting, scheduled for Nov. 10, will represent the inaugural visit of a Syrian head of state to the White House.

Barrack indicated that al-Sharaa is expected to formalize an agreement to join the US-led coalition combating ISIS (Daesh).

He further mentioned that a fifth round of US-facilitated direct negotiations between Israel and Syria is likely to take place following al-Sharaa’s Washington visit.
