Trump Warns Nigeria of Potential Military Response

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Nigeria on Saturday, threatening possible military intervention over the reported "killing of Christians."

Trump posted on his Truth Social account, stating, "If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, 'guns-a-blazing.'"

This declaration followed his previous assertion that Christianity is facing an "existential threat" in Nigeria, while blaming "radical Islamists" for what he called "mass slaughter."

He further declared, "I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!" Trump also urged the Nigerian authorities to "move fast."

Analysts note that his statements align with narratives from right-wing politicians who frame Nigeria’s violent conflicts primarily as assaults by radical Islamists on Christians.

However, experts argue this interpretation is overly simplistic, emphasizing that the unrest cannot be solely attributed to religion, according to a news network.
