Slovak refuses to participate in EU army aid for Ukraine

(MENAFN) Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico declared that his country will abstain from any EU efforts to fund military support for Ukraine, reiterating his administration’s stance against aiding Kyiv’s defense initiatives.

During a Sunday press briefing, Fico stated, “I refuse to allow Slovakia to participate in any financial programs aimed at helping Ukraine manage the war and military spending,” as reported by local media.

He described the European Union’s proposed allocation of roughly €140 billion (over $162 billion) to support Ukraine in the coming years as “the EU’s biggest mistake.”

Fico also repeated his criticism of sanctions targeting Russia, arguing that they inflict greater economic harm on European nations than on Moscow itself.
