Migrants Die in Shipwreck Near Greek Island of Lesbos

(MENAFN) At least four migrants lost their lives in a shipwreck off the coast of the Greek island of Lesbos in the northern Aegean Sea, according to reports from a public broadcaster on Monday.

Rescue operations are ongoing to find any missing individuals after seven migrants were saved in the waters southwest of Agrilia Cape, and the bodies of four victims were recovered.

The survivors, who are reported to be Sudanese nationals, have provided information to authorities.

However, it remains unclear how many people were on board the vessel at the time of the incident.

The rescue efforts, which involve a helicopter and ground teams, are being hindered by the strong winds in the area.
