European Council Pres. Urges China To Lift Restrictions On Rare Earth Exports

BRUSSELS, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- European Council President Antonio Costa on Monday called on China to lift its restrictions on the export of rare earth minerals, stressing the urgent need to restore reliable and stable global supply chains.
In a statement posted on X following his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, Costa said the European Union attaches great importance to building constructive and stable relations with China and seeks to strengthen cooperation to address global challenges.
Costa expressed his deep concern over China's growing expansion of export restrictions on critical raw materials, urging efforts to "restore resilient, reliable, and predictable supply chains."
He added that during the meeting, he emphasized the need to achieve tangible progress in rebalancing trade and economic relations between the two sides, considering the outcomes of the recent EU-China summit. (end)
