Senator Rick Scott Calls for Maduro’s Departure

(MENAFN) U.S. Senator Rick Scott has stated that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro should leave the country, warning that his time in power is quickly running out.

During an interview with a news agency published on Sunday, the Florida Republican suggested, "If I was Maduro, I'd head to Russia or China right now," indicating that the Venezuelan leader’s regime is nearing its end.

Scott expressed his belief that Maduro's "days are numbered," predicting that either internal or external forces will soon bring about change.

When asked directly if the U.S. was planning to invade Venezuela, the senator replied that he did not believe that would happen, adding, "If we do, I'd be surprised."

These remarks were made amid rising military tensions in the region. On Sunday, a U.S. warship arrived in Trinidad and Tobago as part of an intensified pressure campaign from the Trump administration against Venezuela.

Earlier in October, President Donald Trump confirmed his approval of CIA operations within Venezuela.

Scott further speculated that Maduro's removal would lead to "the end of Cuba," asserting, "America is gonna take care of the Southern Hemisphere."

While acknowledging the difficulty of committing to military intervention due to American war fatigue, Scott hinted that international forces could step in "if they needed to."
