Massive Multi-Vehicle Crash Claims Over Sixty Lives in Uganda

(MENAFN) A devastating road accident early Wednesday in western Uganda has claimed the lives of at least 63 individuals, with numerous others reported injured, local police confirmed.

In an official statement, authorities said the crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. on the busy Kampala-Gulu Highway in Kiryandongo district. The collision involved four vehicles: two passenger buses, a Toyota Surf, and a Tata lorry.

The impact set off a violent chain reaction, causing several vehicles to overturn multiple times.

Initial investigations suggest that the driver of an Isuzu bus traveling from Kampala to Gulu tried to overtake a lorry but ended up colliding head-on with another bus coming from the opposite direction.
